Coronavirus' impact on farms, specialty tea, and magic with Margie Pikarsky, Michael Ortiz and Alan Chamo
Nick Jiménez is filling in for Michael Beltran to bring you more phone conversations with a variety of people telling us about how they've been experiencing and adjusting for the coronavirus outbreak.
We'll start with Margie Pikarsky, owner and operator of Bee Heaven Farm in Homestead, Florida, which is a supplier to Mike's restaurants — among many others. She gave us some perspective from her corner of the agriculture world and told us a but about how COVID-19 has changed her relationship with consumers.
Next, a call with Michael Ortiz of JoJo Tea, who had been a guest on this podcast about a monh before the U.S. restaurant shutdown was in full swing. We talked about how his business supplying high-end teas to restaurants, hotels and other customers has been affected by the pandemic.
Finally, a call with someone who has a totally different angle on this thing. Alan Chamo is a mentalist who performs primarily on cruise ships and at conferences — or at least he did until he had to make some hard pivots when those two venues were no longer on the table.
