Jason Schoendorfer makes ham all the time for Babe’s Meat & Counter, the Miami butcher shop he owns and runs with his wife Melanie Schoendorfer — which is to say that he knows his stuff. So we had him sample four brands of sliced honey ham that might find on your grocery store shelves (Oscar Mayer, Hillshire Farm, Publix, Healthy Ones). Aside from looking for the right balance of sweet, salty and smoky flavors, Jason also gets into some of his meat labeling pet peeves and why some of the things manufacturers say on their packaging can be misleading.
